HPRA + McKinsey & Company Present:

The Economic State of Latinos in America: The American Dream Deferred

The Latino population in the US has been growing at an unprecedented pace and represents the future of the nation. By 2050, Latinos will represent more than 1 in 4 of the US population. And, by 2030, Latinos will make up more than 1 in 5 workers.

McKinsey’s latest report is the first of its kind, focusing on increasing awareness of the barriers and the enablers of Latino economic mobility in the U.S., and how these factors impact the country’s economic growth. The study includes insights from more than 4,000 survey respondents. In it, they also outline actions for private and public sector leaders that will help build a more inclusive economic future for Latinos.

The report focuses on understanding Latinos in their roles as workers, business owners, and consumers and identifies the disparities Latinos face, the value-at-stake for closing the gap and the immediate actions for the private, public, and civic sectors. Furthermore, it celebrates the progress of Latinos, looks at potential actions that could help drive change and underscores how Latino Americans are the future to driving US economic growth now and well into the future.

The presentation will cover:

  • Key drivers of Latino economic participation and mobility
  • Estimated economic value of improving outcomes for Latinos
  • Actions and enablers that support closing the disparity
