HPRA Scholarship Programs

Carrying out our mission to help nurture the next generation of Hispanics/Latinos in communications, the Hispanic Public Relations Association offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a career in public relations or communications.

Students can apply to national and local scholarships with one application. Applications are due June 21, 2024.

HPRA National Scholarship

HPRA National will award $20,000 in scholarships in 2024. In addition to a scholarship, winners receive:

  • A free one-year student membership with access to all HPRA National webinars and events, giving them the opportunity to network and learn from PR professionals.
  • Mentorship and shadowing opportunity with a board member
  • Ticket to the ¡BRAVO! Awards, where HPRA National Scholarship winners are recognized each year.   
Eligibility:
  • Be an undergraduate student with at least one parent or grandparent of Hispanic/Latino heritage.
  • Be enrolled at a two- or four-year accredited college or university for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students can be enrolled full-time or part-time. 
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Open to students of all majors who demonstrate an interest in a career in public relations and communications.

HPRA-LA Scholarship

The Los Angeles chapter of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA-LA) is proud to present our annual Scholarship Program to help deserving Hispanic/Latinx students in the greater Los Angeles area achieve their educational goals.

The HPRA-LA Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement and community service among Hispanic/Latinx undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a career in public relations and related communications fields. 

HPRA-LA will award scholarships up to $1,000.00

In addition to financial assistance, scholarship recipients will be introduced to executives at leading agencies and corporate organizations who are a part of the HPRA network, and receive a free, one-year student membership to HPRA-LA.

Eligibility: 
  • Be an undergraduate or graduate student with at least one parent or grandparent of Hispanic/Latino heritage.
  • Be enrolled at a two- or four-year accredited college or university for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students can be enrolled full-time or part-time. 
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Open to students of all majors who demonstrate an interest in a career in public relations and communications. 
  • You must attend school in one of the following Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Imperial, Kern, Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo or Ventura.

  • August 2024: Scholarship winners notified 
  • Oct. 10, 2024: Winners recognized at the ¡BRAVO! Awards ceremony in Miami

    In addition to standard information, you will need to submit an unofficial transcript, resume, personal statement, writing sample and an optional letter of recommendation. Your personal statement should addresses 1) how a scholarship will help you in your pursuit of public relations and 2) what you have accomplished to get on the path for a successful career in public relations. Word count: 350-500.
